Johnson is a renowned filmmaker and photographer. His films include the award winning documentaries Zebulon Pike and the Blue Mountain and Damon Runyon’s Pueblo. He currently teaches photography, filmmaking and art history at the Community College of Aurora. The John Deaux Art Gallery exhibits a wide selection of Johnson’s archival, silver halide photographs. The photographs are unmanipulated, imaginative and published in several photography books.
